June was Pride month and team ebbo showed its support in a few ways.
We started out with our monthly newsletter in which employees shared their own personal experiences and perspectives related to the LGBTQ+ community and Pride month.
The feedback we received was greatly appreciated as many folks found the stories from their team members to be insightful and relatable.
There’s a saying that “music is universal” and that was the general idea when our ERG (Employee Resource Group) created a playlist of more than 100 great songs for employees to enjoy from top musicians in the LGBTQ+ community.
Also, some of our book club members read “Blanca and Roja,” a fictional story written by award-winning author Anna-Marie McLemore about two sisters and their contrasting identities.
And last, but not least, we brought about 50 team members together from varied locations to enjoy an hour of virtual drag bingo, hosted by a fun, inspirational drag queen.
But it was more than just bingo.
We had lots of laughs and varied interactive mini-musical games which included a pretty intense lip sync battle.
Here are the real highlights of this event:
With a competitive team like ebbo, we had to have prizes. But we wanted prizes that support and pay it forward. Therefore, the winners of drag bingo received either a $25 e-gift card or a donation made to an LGBTQ+ business/organization of their choice.
Second was the sheer enjoyment of the event and bringing the team together to simply have fun and appreciate one another. Some of the feedback we heard was “so much funnnnn”; “That was AMAZING”; “Loved it”; and “We need to do that more than just in June.”
The ways ebbo supported Pride Month are a great reflection of our ERG’s goal which is to champion individuality and sustain a strong sense of belonging for our team members.
