Giving back to the community is one of the driving forces behind our culture at ebbo.
And the holiday season presents a great opportunity for our company to give back to those who are less fortunate.
Our holiday event focused on The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. We created our own angel wall in the office. The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new clothing and toys for children of needy families in the greater Hartford area.
Spirit of Giving
Despite the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is also a time that puts many people in the spirit of giving and that is certainly the case for the team at ebbo. For the second year in a row, we participated in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
We decorated our wall with 125 numbered angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child in need of a gift. Our employees removed one or more tags from the wall and purchased appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.
By doing this, our donations help to eliminate the cost of toys/gifts that would normally be part of The Salvation Army’s holiday expenses, thus making more funding available for emergency needs such as food, clothing, shelter, rental assistance and fuel assistance.
Employees Love The Angel Tree Program
The feedback we received about the program from employees was fantastic! They love participating in it!
They were glad we participated again. A few times I was asked by our CEO and other employees, “How are we doing with the tags? How many tags are left?”
Toward the end when we had just a few tags left, one person sent me a worrisome email late one evening, saying: “Erica, I see we have tags left … what are we going to do? We can’t have any tags left. Please let me know if I should take more tags … we can’t have a child’s tag not fulfilled.”
The name of our program, “ebbo Cares,” really speaks to the culture and sincerity of our team here at ebbo.
I’m so impressed with our team for the awesome job they did.
Loyalty Comes From The Heart
Giving back to your community is a noble deed that is repaid tenfold through a sense of pride that it brings all who participate.
At ebbo, we have a community outreach program called “ebbo Cares.” It provides opportunities for our employees to lend a collective hand to people, causes and organizations in the cities and towns near us in Connecticut.
At ebbo we believe that companies, like individuals, can and should be measured by the commitments and contributions they make to the communities around them. That’s why we created ebbo Cares.
ebbo Cares is our way to give something back to the people and charities near and dear to us.
It might seem like a cliché to say, but it is better to give than to receive and that wonderful feeling that comes from participating in The Angel Tree program fills all of us here at ebbo with the holiday spirit.
