It has been over 12 years since I joined Clarus Commerce and we have grown from a team of 10 to well over 150.
We’ve developed two separate thriving businesses. We’ve been able to grow and improve our financial picture year-over-year and, most importantly, we’ve built a team and a culture that I’m incredibly proud of.
I’ve always thought our next big accomplishment would be to execute on M&A. While we’ve built phenomenal capabilities and have a top-notch team, I knew buying a company would be in our future as a way to accelerate our growth.
So, I am happy to say we have done that and I’m excited to announce PrizeLogic will be joining the Clarus Commerce family.
With offices in Arizona and Michigan, PrizeLogic is a trusted industry leader and is the largest digital engagement company. PrizeLogic’s Engage Platform powers loyalty programs, promotions, and rebate programs for Fortune 500 brands like Molson Coors, PepsiCo, Samsung, T-Mobile, Lowe’s, and Capital One.
Working and Growing Together
Since I have been CEO, the growth and continued success of both our clients and team members has been our biggest priority.
We had been looking to acquire a company that would add the perfect mix of complementary skills and technology while also meshing well with our culture. And we have found that with the team at PrizeLogic.
When I first met Ryan LaMirand, CEO of the PrizeLogic business, and his leadership team via Zoom, I knew right away that there was a fit.
When our leadership team flew to Arizona for two days to get to know the team over meetings and a dinner, it quickly became clear how similar our cultures were and that they had a fantastic product.
When I asked Ryan about his team and how they were addressing COVID, his employee-first mentality gave me a good sense of how he thought about his people.
And when we met his broader team in Arizona, I not only saw how the team respected each other but also was able to have fun and poke each other a bit.
The people at PrizeLogic are smart, knowledgeable, and driven with a similar culture that balances work and fun nicely. They look at their teams and company events the way we do, like an Ugly Sweater Contest and an Escape Room event.
PrizeLogic felt like Clarus from a cultural perspective and general work atmosphere.
Shortly after the acquisition, I participated in an all-hands meeting where I met much of the team. In sharing that my favorite baseball team is the Yankees, I received some boos from the team – I love it!
We can’t wait to get our teams together talking and learning from each other.
Combined Efforts Lead to Stronger Outcomes
On the business side of it, PrizeLogic nicely complements what we do at Clarus without a lot of overlap in technology and expertise.
Working with PrizeLogic will allow us to enhance our retail partners’ abilities to engage every customer in unique ways that will lead to greater brand loyalty.
They will help us create a more consistent customer experience through the proprietary Engage Platform and provide valuable data to brands, add promotional capabilities and enhanced rebate and data functionality, and seamlessly complete our end-to-end loyalty solution.
For example, PrizeLogic’s promotion engine will allow our clients to offer sweepstakes and quick hits to their members, driving new customers.
This also gives us the ability to offer a wider variety of loyalty capabilities to our clients. From generating new-to-file customers for our clients to referral programs, social plugins, and a robust points engine, our companies will be able to offer an end-to-end loyalty and engagement solution.
Going forward, we don’t want to disrupt any of what they’re doing because what they’re doing is very successful. In the coming months, we’ll continue figuring out how to learn from each other, tackle what makes sense, and develop a variety of ways our businesses can work in a complementary way so we can continue our growth trajectory.
A Bright New Chapter for all of Us
It’s a new chapter for us. And when I say ‘us,’ I mean Clarus and PrizeLogic together.
I want to make sure that everyone at PrizeLogic knows that I, and everyone here at Clarus, are interested in learning from each other. I can’t emphasize this enough.
As the adage goes: There’s no ‘I’ in TEAM. At the end of the day, it’s all about working and growing together and having fun along the way.
